The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can leave even the best of us feeling a little frazzled. Don't let the stress steal the joy out of your holiday festivities.
Check out these five dishes that you can make ahead of time whenever it’s convenient for you right in your Ash Street Cooperative kitchen. These dishes also travel well so you won’t have to worry about spills and messes, either.
1) Pasta Salads
Pasta salads are the perfect potluck or holiday dinner side. They usually taste better when made ahead of time and all the flavors have a chance to meld together. Pasta salads usually consist of a pasta, some chopped veggies, cheese, and a dressing. You can come up with your own version or try one of these tasty recipes:
● Turkey, Cranberry, and Walnut Pasta Salad
● Seven-Layer Holiday Pasta Salad
Don’t forget to bring some extra dressing if you make ahead of time. Pasta can absorb what dressing you initially add. You may have to add more to keep it from being too dry.
Potato casseroles and potato-based dishes are super easy to assemble before the big day. Place all assembled ingredients in a disposable foil pan and store in the fridge until ready to bake. Once baked, pop the lid on and you’re ready to go. Clean up is a breeze as well!
3) Turkey and Gravy
What holiday gathering would be complete without turkey and gravy? This dish can take hours to prepare traditionally so why not get the cooking out of the way ahead of time. Spend the holiday enjoying the company of your family instead of working over the stove.
4) Stuffing/ Dressing
The holidays just aren’t the holidays without the stuffing, or dressing, depending on where you live. These recipes probably aren’t too different from your typical recipes but will show you how to master making them in advance, before leaving your co-op, without sacrificing flavor.
